The Liver/Gallbladder Flush Preparation*

Gallstones can be safely handled WITHOUT SURGERY? There are over 700,000 cholecystectomies done in the U.S. each year, costing over $6.5 billion, making it the largest digestive problem. This guide is important for people who’ve been diagnosed with small gallstones, been to the hospital for gallbladder pain, gallbladder symptoms of indigestion (especially with fatty or rich foods), right shoulder pain, light colored stools, headaches, excessive gas, constipation or upper abdominal pain. It’s also a great beginning for anyonedoing a GB flush Caution: if you’ve been diagnosed with stones jamming or covering the common bile duct or duct exit, consult your doctor first. In these cases, if approved, the preparation should be done for at least 3 months, then an ultrasound image obtained to check for improvement before the actual ‘flush’ is considered.

There are 2 preparations to choose from; the ‘full’ and ‘mini’ preps. Materials needed include:

  1. GB-40 Yuan Source (3 bottles if full prep, 1 bottle if mini prep). Dose: 2 caps, 3 x a day. If using our website's Virtual Pharmacy, substitute  Ultra Liver Support (code: D77958). Two bottles of 60 caps for full prep, 1 bottle for mini). Dose: 2 caps, twice daily.
  2. Optional, but HIGHLY recommended forbest flush results: Coffee Enemas and Castor oil packs to the liver-GB area are also advised.

For the full prep, starting 3 weeks ahead, take the GB-40 Yuan caps 3x a day with water, to support the liver & gallbladder, and soften any stones. Apply the castor oil packs to the liver/gallbladder region 2 x a week for 1-2 hours. See our website Castor Oil Pack Therapy article under the Learning Center for further instructions. Packs can be done by anybody. For best results you should do capsules, packs, AND enemas. During the last week of the preparation, drink three 12 oz. glasses of fresh, unsweetened, organic apple juice a day (it's the malic acid that softens the stones), avoid all rich, fatty & fried foods as well as dairy and eat lots of fresh fruits and veggies. If you can't tolerate apples or the natural sugar, buy malic acid powder online and drink a glass of water mixed with 1/2 teaspoon a day. The ‘mini-prep’ starts 1 week prior to the flush, and includes the apple juice, GB-40 Yuan Source or Ultra Liver Support caps, and diet. Remember, this all leads up to the actual ‘flush’.

It’s highly recommended to cleanse the intestines before attempting the flush for best results. For this I recommend doing coffee enemas once a week for the 3 week preparation to help clear stagnant materials from the bowel, stimulate the liver detoxification process, and keep the gallbladder ‘neck’ dilated to allow any stones or debris to pass smoothly. This is especially advised for anyone with a history of gallstones. Enemas aren’t mandatory, but are THE deepest, most effective adjunct to the flush program. Only one enema the day before and the day after the flush is required for the 'mini' prep. NOTE: only regular coffee (NOT decaffeinated) will work, and typically does not create any jitters or energy that drinking coffee can have.

What should I notice during the flush?

If you experience any nausea, there’s congestion in your biliary (gallbladder) system. The preparation relaxes, softens, and detoxifies the bile ducts and gallbladder beforehand, so it’s almost never a problem. You may notice a sense of increased well-being, less indigestion, relaxation in the neck and shoulders, fewer headaches, and improved emotional outlook (the ‘wood element’ in Chinese medicine relatesto the liver and gallbladder, which often become irritated or congested with long-term repressed feelings of anger, frustration and resentment).

A more dramatic aspect is that you may see small green, yellow or light brown balls or ‘stones’ in the stool. This means success! Some see hundreds in the stool following the flush, while others only a few. Not to worry if you don’t see any. It means that you need more ‘flushes’ or didn’t do it properly – often insufficient oil or Epsom salts.

How often can I do the flushes?

The flush as outlined is the safest, easiest version I’ve seen in decades. Repeat if needed, especially if you did not see any ‘stones’ in the first attempt. I recommend the flush monthly for 6 flushes, or once every 3 months if this works better for you. Many of the stones are actually just old, stagnant bile that's been released. Bright green ones are typically from the olive oil drink. Repeating the full flush once a year thereafter is a good health promotion strategy.

Should I do the preparation again before the next flush?

I suggest the ‘full-prep’ phase again only if it has been 6 months or more between flushes. Many people feel that the prep helps regardless of how often they do the flush, but it’s really up to the individual. If doing a flush monthly, do the one week ‘mini-prep’.  Coffee enemas can be repeated at any time you feel nauseous, constipated or not releasing stones. For additional information, I suggest reading the book: The Amazing Liver & Gallbladder Flush, by Andreas Moritz, available at Amazon.com. The coffee enema procedure is quite simple, and instructions are found online at a variety of health sites.

The Actual Gallbladder Flush

The flush is best done on a weekend. The day before flush, drink 32 oz. apple juice in am, then only steamed veggies and rice for lunch, with NO FOOD after 1:30pm. Water is fine only. The night before the flush at 6pm, add 4 TBSP of Epsom salts (magnesium sulfate) to a total of 24 oz of pure water, making four 6-oz servings. Drink your first serving now, adding fresh lemon for taste. Drink your second serving at 8pm. If you’ve not had a bowel movement/s by 9:30pm, do a coffee enema. At 10pm, make the flush concoction: squeeze 1 large grapefruit (or 1 lemon and 1 orange) or use tomato juice (6 oz) and pour 4 Tbsp. organic extra virgin olive oil into a jar and shake hard 20 times. Drink this and then go to bed immediately, lying flat on your back with two pillows propping the head up. Lie still for at least 20 minutes. Afterthis you may lie normally on your right side and sleep. You may feel various sensations or a slight queasiness which will pass. Note: the magnesium in Epsom salts will reduce tendency to spasm, but also causes liquidy stools, which helps the stones pass. Upon awaking the next morning, but not before 6am, drink your third glass of Epsom salts. If thirsty, a glass of warm water is fine beforehand. Rest and drink your last glass of Epsom salts 1-2 hours later. These stimulate deeper release of toxins and avoid any stagnation that can cause nausea. Later in the morning, drink fresh fruit juice and fruit only, then lightly for lunch, then normal by dinner (avoid rich/fried foods for 2 days). Consider one more coffee enema if any headache. This recipe works wonderfully compared to all other LV/GB flushes!
